Betty Lynn Ledford, 66 of Hayesville, NC went through the Heavenly Gates on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.
Born to the late Ralph and Geneva Patterson Ledford on January 14th, 1957. Betty was an avid animal lover. Her life's purpose was to care for her beloved pets, neighbors' pets and any creature that came into her path. She worked as an EMT/Paramedic for both Cherokee and Clay counties most of her career as well as the ER at Murphy Medical Center. After leaving the medical field she was employed at Harrahs Valley River until her retirement earlier this year.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Derek and her sister, Helen Forrester. Betty leaves behind sisters and brother-in-laws, Virginia and Owen Monkus, Debbie and Steve Eller; brother, David Ledford.
She also will be missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Union Hill Cemetery in Hayesville. Rev. Kyle Cody will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Cherokee County Humane Society in Betty's memory.
