Virginia Ruth Anderson, age 83 of Murphy, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
Ruth was born in Murphy to the late Fred and Coy Timpson Killian. She had retired from the Cherokee Scout after 47 years as a Composition Manager. Ruth loved to sing gospel songs, yard sales, thrift stores and reading. She also enjoyed life and her grandkids. Ruth was a member of Hiawassee Baptist Church in Murphy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Anderson, Sr; her son, Marty Anderson; a sister in law, Minnie Killian; her brothers, Ted "Telephone Teddy" Killian, Rex "Lucky Ned Pepper" Killian and Jeff "Grimy" Killian; her sisters, Laveane "Beanie" Killian, Joanne "Fudji" Killian and an infant sister, Glenda Faye Killian.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Jerry "Badeye" Anderson, Jr and Tim "Boozer" Anderson and wife Sheri; her daughter in law, Tina Anderson; her brother, Steve "Grover" Killian; her sister, Anita Ellis and husband Robert; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy. Rev. Scott Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Hiawassee Baptist Church Cemetery in Murphy. Pallbearers will be Kane Anderson, Jake Smith, Jake Anderson, Colt Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Gavin Killian and Casey Killian.
The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Murphy.
