Obituary for William Durham Brackett Jr

William (Bill) Durham Brackett, Jr., age 88 of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Bill was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina to the late William Durham Brackett, Sr and Edith Foster Brackett. He was a real estate broker. Bill enjoyed landscaping, gardening and anything outside. He also loved being around his family and eating ice cream. Bill liked to hike and liked anything with a mountain view. He was active for quite a few years with gemstone work, faceting gemstones and he also taught several classes at Tri County Community College. Bill was a member of St. John Episcopal Church in Franklin and was a United States Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step mother, Mabel Lyda Brackett.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Charlene Davidson Brackett; his son, Scott William Brackett (Lisa); his daughter, Pamela Brackett Whitlock (Frank); his sister, Rebecca Brackett; his grandchildren, Brittany Whitlock Jacob (Josh), Dwight William Whitlock (Lauren), Davis Franklyn Whitlock, Leland Robert Whitlock, William Daniel Brackett and Benjamin Charles Brackett.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Reverends Carl Southerland and Margaret Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Murphy. Pallbearers will be Dwight Whitlock, Davis Whitlock, Leland Whitlock, William Brackett, Benjamin Brackett, Josh Jacob and James Freeman.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 3pm on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
