Joseph Daniel "Dan" Taylor, age 76 of Murphy, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Dan was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Wallace Taylor and Willie Kay Lance Coffey. He worked in the real estate business. Dan loved anything and everything that involved Nascar. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his wife, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His great grandchildren referred to him as their "PopPop" as affectionately named by one, Paisley Pavelka. Dan was also always on the go and very passionate about conducting business professionally.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a step father, Clyde Coffey; a daughter, Beth Taylor; brothers, John Coffey, Jerry Coffey and James Taylor; a sister, Linda Rhodes; and a grandmother who raised him, Rosabelle Lance.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Frankum Taylor; his sons, Clark Taylor (Susan) and Joey Taylor (Tiffany); a daughter, Lisa Taylor; a brother, David Coffey; his sisters, Debbie Lee and Wanda Phillips; a brother-in-law, Jim "Sam" Frankum; a sister-in-law, Mary Green; his 15 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Little Brasstown Baptist Church where he will lie in state from 2pm to 3pm. Revs. Aud Brown, Clark Taylor and Don Elrod will be officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
