Luther Wallace Owens, 80, of Young Harris, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was the son of the late Dillard Victor and Georgia Mae Payne Owens. Luther had worked as a skilled sewing machine mechanic. He loved hunting, fishing reloading ammunition, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Owens; a brother, Jimmie Owens; and a sister, Patty Kay Worley.
Surviving is his wife, Susie Allen Owens; a stepson, Tony Patton (Betty); stepdaughters, Jeanie Guffey (Steve) and Carol Kilpatrick (Dewayne); a brother, Lonnie Owens; a sister, Kathy Sue Flemming; a grandchild, Kasey Owens; and many more extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Hayesville Chapel with Speaker Wendell Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens with military rites being conducted by American Legion Post #96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville and the Marine Corp League, Marble. Pallbearers will be Dale Flemming, Tommy Worley, Jacob Ditmore, Steve Guffey, Adam Stewart, and Justin Ditmore.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Hayesville Chapel prior to the services.
