Obituary for Wendell John McClure

Wendell J. McClure "MAC" was born on January 3, 1941 and passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024.

A man of deep conviction and compassion, Wendell began preaching the gospel in 1974. His ministry extended beyond the pulpit as he found joy visiting nursing homes to pray for those in need. His unwavering dedication to spreading hope and comfort left an indelible mark on many lives. Mac never met a stranger.

Wendell also found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved family gatherings that brought everyone together and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. These activities reflected his appreciation for nature and the bonds of family. He was a United States Army veteran.

Wendell's legacy is one of faith, kindness and a life well lived. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Wendell is preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Velma McClure; his sister and brother, Delores and Jimmy McClure; grandson, Michael Wayne Temple; great granddaughter, Makayla Gail Hope Sims; and his daughter, Donna McClure.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Charlotte (Bunny) McClure, together they shared a life filled with love, faith and cherished memories until the end. Wendell was a loving father survived by his children and their spouses: Daniel and Kathy McClure, Marilyn and Charles Bardwell, Melissa and Todd Foster, Darlene and Randy Stone, Daphne and Marty Mullins, Allen and Tamara Lyons. He is also survived by his two brothers, Doyle and Darrell McClure; his three sisters, Barbara Morrow, Linda Palmer and Sandra Burris; his 15 grandchildren; and his 9 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Jamey Geer officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Shane Temple, Brandon Geer, Michael McClure, Jesse Durham, Ron Temple, Junior Radford, Allen and Quinton Lyons.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy prior to the funeral service.
