Inez "Nezzie" Garrett Dockery, age 87 of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Nezzie was born in Cherokee County to the late Rosevelt and Josie Graham Garrett. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, bowling and fishing. Nezzie loved chickens, watching horse races in Kentucky and especially loved animals in general.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Luke Dockery; her brothers, Roy, Grady, Wayne and Loy Garrett; and her sisters, Geneva Keenum, Edith Roach, Hazel Parker and Lois Taylor.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Dockery and Linda Memmer (Michael), both of Murphy; her grandchildren, Misty Abernathy (Tim) and Kayla Holcomb (Kevin); and her great grandchildren, Luke Abernathy, Katie Abernathy and Knox Holcomb.
A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Aud Brown and Rev. Rondall Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Garrett Family Cemetery in Murphy. Pallbearers will be Tim Abernathy, Kevin Holcomb, Luke Abernathy, Brandon Thompson, Derrick Clearly and Burch Crawford. Honorary pallbearer will be Knox Holcomb.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy the evening prior to the funeral service.
