Carolyn Lillie Mabry McDonald, age 77 of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025.
She was born in Cowpen, SC to the late James and Myrtle Chastain Mabry. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and taking care of all her dogs. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible. Carolyn was a member of Mt. Liberty Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McDonald.
She is survived by her son, Dwayne Buchanan (Cindy) of Murphy; one brother, James Mabry of Murphy; one sister, Mary Lou Chastain (Ben) of Murphy; one grandson, Wesley Burchanan (fiance, Mollie Cornwell); one great granddaughter, Maisie Buchanan; and two nieces, Sheila Dockery (Mike) and Amber Wall (Eric); one nephew, Keith Ownbey; and several grandnephews, one grandniece, and one great nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Zack Orton will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Ownbey, Brandon Decker, Wesley Buchanan, Mike Dockery, Cody Ownbey, and Dylan Ownbey. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Wall, Jack Wall, William Wall, Brian Decker and Corey Curtis.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 2 pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
