Ronald Clifford Halstead, age 76 of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Ron was born in Clinton, New York to the late Kenneth and Muriel Warren Halstead. He served proudly in the United States Navy as a Nuclear Submariner. Ron was a graduate of Syracuse College and supported all of their athletic endeavors. He had a career as an electrical engineering manager for Verizon but his second career brought him the most joy. He was a broker with Appalachian Land Company in Murphy NC which became home. Ron loved life and people and you would see him in all kinds of weather all around town driving his convertible with the top down. Ron was raised in the Methodist church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Halstead.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Lane Halstead; his son, Greg Halstead (Sarah), his daughter Kristen Runyon (Sean) his step-son, Matt Lane (Tara); his brothers, David Halstead (Cameon) and Gary Halstead (Suzanne); his sisters, Debbie Morgret (Jim) and Sherrie Campbell (Scott); and his grandchildren, Devin and Kaylie Runyon, Alex and Lauren Halstead, Jackson Lane, and Audrey and Grace Frye.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Pastor Gary Halstead officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy prior to the memorial service.
