Obituary for Ellen Marie Proffitt

Ellen Marie Byrne Proffitt, age 71 of Murphy, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Ellen was born in Pineview, New York to the late Charles and Agnus Wise Byrne. She was a cosmetologist. Ellen loved doing crafts, being outdoors, swimming, hiking, birdwatching and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Ellen was a member of Ranger United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Proffitt.

Ellen is survived by her son, Daniel Coleman; her brother, Charlie Byrne; her sisters, Carol Green, Jennifer White and Nancy Greenbond; her grandchildren, Abby Coleman and Anglica Coleman; her great grandchildren, Mason, Freja and Sebastain Coleman.
