Obituary for Janice Louise Dockery

Janice Louise Dockery, age 83 of Andrews, NC went to be with the Lord Monday, September 1, 2025.

She was born in Macon County, NC to the late Walter and Lottie Garey Morgan. Janice worked as a janitor in the public school system. She loved reading, puzzles, watching game shows, sewing, cooking, ironing and playing the piano. Janice enjoyed going to the Atlanta Braves baseball games. She was world famous for making the best coconut cakes. Janice loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She attended Grace Fellowship Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Joey Upton; three brothers, Edward, Cecil and Joe Morgan; two sisters, Mildred Grant and Madge Morgan; sister-in-law, Bobbie Morgan; one brother-in-law, Doyle Grant.

She is survived by one son, Brian Dockery (Carla) of Mooresville, NC; two daughters, Diane Upton of Chatsworth, GA and Susan Sneed (Wally) of Hendersonville, NC; one sister, Joyce Owenby (Verden) of Andrews, NC; two sisters-in-law, Anne Morgan and Phyllis Morgan; four grandchildren, Tyler "Joe" (Tiffany) Upton, Avery (Shannon) Sneed, Lauren Sneed and Heath Dockery; and four great grandchildren, Leland, Gunner and Nora Upton, Adalee and Levi Sneed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Andrews. Dr. Jack Hollowell will officiate. Eulogy will be given by her son-in-law, Wally Sneed.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Grace Fellowship Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be in memory of Janice Louise Dockery to the Meals on Wheels, Penland Senior Center, 69 Alpine Street, Murphy, NC 28906.
