Obituary for Martha Jane Turlington

Martha Jane Dillard Turlington, age 64 of Hayesville, NC passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

She was born in Columbus, GA to the late Landon Emory Dillard and Marcella Beaver Dillard of Murphy, NC. Martha enjoyed cooking, reading, crafts and working with her flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Martha was a loving mother. She was a member of Simonds Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Timothy "TJ" Shields of Hayesville; one daughter, Tori Elrod of Hayesville; three brothers, Johnny Dillard (Geneva) of Lexington, SC, Ronnie Dillard (Rhonda) of Ducktown, TN and Scottie Dillard of Murphy, NC; one sister, Connie Chancey (Shawn) of Murphy; seven grandchildren, Brandi Lands (Cordell), Paige Elrod, Jane Shields, Alex Shields, Aden Anderson, Grace Cook and Kayne Anderson (Abby); and four great grandchildren, Taytum Lands, Colsen Lands, Ivy Lee and Hubert Anderson.

Funeral Services will held at 1 pm, Sunday, September 21. 2025 at the Simonds Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Warren Golden will officiate. Music will be provided by Diana Crowder. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Evan Dillard, Ryan Dillard, Kayleb Chancey, Jake Rhodes, Jarod Orton, Preston Hyde and Brock Hyde. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Rhodes, Timothy "TJ" Shields, Aden Anderson, Kayne Anderson, Alex Shields, Cordell Lands.

The family will received friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
