Obituary for Edgar Paul McCord Jr

Edgar Paul McCord, Jr., age 82 of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Edgar was born in Houston, Texas to the late Edgar Paul McCord, Sr and Barbara Sarah Necessary McCord. He worked in the oil industry as a development management trainer. Edgar enjoyed hiking, going to church, spending time and taking care of his family. He loved traveling as he traveled all over the world. Edgar was a member of Church of the Messiah in Murphy and a United States Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Elizabeth Platts McCord; and his sister, Barbara Jones.

He is survived by his son, Brian David McCord; his brother, Tom McCord; his niece, Michelle Gambel; and his nephews, Shawn Jones and Brett McCord.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Church of the Messiah in Murphy with Pastor Marguerite Rourke officiating.
