Marie McCray, age 71 of Hayesville, NC passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at her residence.
She was born in Towns County, GA to the late Allen and Lena Shook Ferguson and also loving parents, Blaine and Hazel Canup. Marie worked at the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home as a cook. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin McCray; two daughters, Connie Silvers and Angela McCray; three brothers, O.D. Ferguson, Dwight Ferguson and Monroe Canup; and two sisters, Clyde May Stutters and Myrtle Whittiemer.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Green and husband Richard of Hiawassee, GA; one brother, Jerry Canup and wife Arlene of Gainesville, GA; six sisters, Juanita Morgan and husband Charlie of Andrews, Judy Dendy and husband Steve of Woodstock, GA, Janet Allen of Hiawassee, GA, Jamie Lanius and husband Jay, Kay Tanner and husband Homer of Hayesville and Jeanette Fowler and husband Norris of Gainesville, GA; five grandchildren, Kenny Silvers, Brandon Silvers, Dewayne Green, Austin Green and Hope Bannister; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special great niece, Charlee and special great-nephew, Jacob.
Funeral Services will be held immediately after viewing at 6 pm, Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Israel Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh White, Glenn Matheson, Jacob Matheson, Jay Lanius, Jerry Canup, Bradley Taylor and Johnathon Canup.
The family will having a viewing with family and friends from 4-6 pm, Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
