Westley Scott "Skeet" Whitaker, age 51 of Hayesville, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, peacefully in his sleep.
Scott was born in Hiawassee, Georgia to Joyce Scroggs Shelton and the late Charles Whitaker. He dedicated his life to helping others as a Social Worker. Scott felt that every smile meant something. Scott was an avid hunter and a fisherman that loved the time spent outdoors. Scott loved football, from playing to watching. Scott was a dedicated Father, Brother, Son and Grandfather. He was known for being able to walk into a room and light up the room with his infectious smile and laugh. Scott had the biggest heart for someone he knew and even a stranger. Scott was a United States Army Veteran which he loved and was dedicated to his years in service.
Scott is survived by his mother and father, Joyce Scroggs and William Shelton; a son, Dalton Whitaker (Amber); daughters, Ashley Whitaker (Brittany) and Sabrina McGee (John); brothers, Jason Whitaker (Heather), Eric Whitaker and David Shelton; sisters, Kimberly Whitaker, Melissa Whitaker and Teresa Shelton; grandchildren, Brayden, Arabella, Thomas and Robert; and many nieces and nephews.
A small informal gathering will be held at 7pm on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Murphy.
