Obituary for Alan Chekelelee

04/17/1962 - 01/18/2023

Alan Chekelelee, age 60 of Marble, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

On January 18th, Jesus took Alan home from the people who loved him more than anything. Those who really knew him would tell you how kind he was and what a huge heart he had. Losing him will change our lives forever; we will never be the same, he loved big! His family was everything to him and he never failed to show how much he loved them. He never met a stranger and oftentimes, you would wonder if you would ever be able to leave the store. The only peace we have is knowing that he is in the presence of our Lord God Almighty. We lack the understanding as to why God took him so soon, too soon! He had so many great attributes, too many to list. He loved fishing and he was a diehard sports fan. He refused to miss a single UNC, Dolphins, or a Braves game. He was a skilled stone mason and had a long run as a gaming host at Harrah’s.

Alan is preceded in death by his father, Ed Chekelelee; his step-father, Carroll Lambert; his mother-in-law, Eloise Hall; his brother, Don Chekelelee; and his neice, Destinee Ellington.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Chekelelee; his mother, Anona (Sugie) Lambert; his father-in-law, Gordon Hall; his six sons, Adrian Chekelelee, Zachary Chekelelee and wife, Brittany, Kaleb Chekelelee, Isaiah Chekelelee, Gabriel Chekelelee, Chase Kalonaheskie and wife, Shina; two step-sons, Nicholas Smith and Zachary Smith; a step-daughter, Brandi Poole; a special daughter in Alan's eyes, Tiffany Hicks; his brothers, Eddie Chekelelee and wife, Susan, Jimmy Lambert, Ray Lambert and wife, Lashaun; his sister in law, Carolyn Chekelelee; his sisters, Tammie Chekelelee, Crystal Lambert Ellington and husband, Philip, and Carolyn Panther; a multitude of grandchildren, Emory, Legend, Zachlan, Zayleigh, Zeller, Zaddie, Xavi and Olivia Chekelelee, and Andyn Kalonaheskie, Mia Smith and Dallas Poole. Alan loved each and every one of them with every ounce of his being. He loved and adored each and every one of his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Buffalo Baptist Church in Robbinsville. Pastor Jake Easter and Pastor Scottie Chekelelee will officiate. The guest singers will be Joel Turner and Christian Poole and possible additional singers will be Hannah Orr and Autumn, Madisyn and Lynsey Ellington and singer Cassidy Galaviz.

Burial will be in the Chekelelee Family Cemetery in Robbinsville. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Smith, Zachary Smith, Cassidy Galaviz, Crus Galaviz, Luke Swimmer, Kenyon Swimmer, Tommy Chekelelee and Dewitt Chekelelee.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Buffalo Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
