Jim Alton Stone, age 79 of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Jim was born in Woodberry, TN to the late Fred and Willie Opal Ledbetter Stone. He was a band director in the Augusta, GA area and also a farmer. Jim enjoyed fishing, watching sports, being outdoors and also enjoyed being with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy McTaggart.
Jim is survived by his wife, Aurelia Wells Stone; a daughter, Maria Vaill and husband Chris; a son, Jim A. Stone, Jr. and wife Ashley; 12 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Doctor Marguerite Rourke will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 prior to the service.
