Evelyn Elizabeth Gibby, age 80, left her Andrews, NC home on Sunday, September 10, 2023. She departed this world with her family by her side.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Thetus and father, Oscar Johnson of Mecklenburg County, NC; her sisters, Carolyn Buchanan and Francis Buchanan; her brothers Caine and Johnny Johnson; and her baby boy, Douglas Gibby.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Gibby; her sister, Tricia Gibby; her daughter, Wanda and husband Randall Hamby; her son, Randy and his wife Heather Gibby; her granddaughters, Ginger and Jared Leitner, Wendy and Jason Reese, Scott and Lacey Gibby, Caitlin and Derrick Lovingood, Alexa and JJ Jackson, Storm and Rainey Gibby, Dakotah Gibby and Jonah Craig; and her great grandchildren, Eli Carver, Skylar and Aidan Gass, Kaylen Reece, Jocelyn Reece, Lauren Reese, Benton Gibby, Lawton Gibby, Wyleigh Gibby, Bowen Jackson, Branch Jackson, Grady Lovingood, Rhet Lovingood, Rowen Lovingood and Oakland Craig.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Townson-Rose Chapel of Andrews. Rev. Chuck Davis will officiate. Music will be provided by Cindy Davis. Burial will be in Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Gibby, Storm Gibby, Derrick Lovingood, Jason Reese, Chucky Baldwin, Brandon Bryant and Shandon Bryant.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 1 pm, Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Townson-Rose Chapel of Andrews.
