Obituary for Florence Anna Valentine

Mrs. Florence Anna Valentine (Kopp) passed away peacefully at her home in Murphy, NC.

Florence was born September 13, 1929 in Manhattan, NY, was the wife of Charles F. Valentine for 72 years. She was the mother of Susan (Hamilton) Valentine, Nancy Nobrega (Joseph), Jacaly Dacuk (Ronnie) and Kim Labarge. She is survived by her grandchildren, Zachery, Jason, Charlie, Timothy, Brian, David, Stephen, Samantha, Trisha and Melissa; nine great grandchildren. Florence is survived by her sister, Emily Fate, and many nieces and nephews

Florence loved to be around her family and friends. She volunteered at St. Williams Catholic Church where she played the organ for mass. Florence helped start the program over 40 years ago to bring holiday baskets to the community in need. She was chair of the E-Alert System for 17 years. Flo loved to sew clothes for her daughters, knit and crochet, making many sweaters and blankets, elephants and pigs. Florence along with her husband, Charles, owned and ran the Noyac Hardware Store in Sag Harbor, NY. After retiring in 1981 they moved and built their home in Murphy. They also traveled the country and successfully saw and explored 49 states by van. Flo loved to play cards with her family.

Florence was preceded in death by her father, Michael S. Kopp, mother, Florentina Pallay, brother, Michael Kopp, sister, Carol Schlageter and son in laws, Dwaine Labarge and George Hamilton.

Florence was loved by so many and gave so much of her time in helping others.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Monday, December 11, 2023 at the St. William's Catholic Church in Murphy.
