Obituary for Harold Baker

Harold Baker, age 87 of Shoal Creek/Wehutty community and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Signal Mountain Senior Living Center in Chattanooga, TN.

He was the son of the late Belvia Jones Baker and Will Baker. Harold was a professional driver for 40 years, working for Akers Motor Lines, and Mckee Foods Corporation (Little Debbie Snack Cakes).

He will be remembered for his kindness and quick wit, loved his family and friends and large get togethers. Harold also enjoyed trips to Dollywood and always made sure the grandkids had season passes. He was a gifted carpenter and all-around fix-it guy. Harold was also blessed with a green thumb and could make plants and trees bloom with beauty. He was a devoted husband to wife Virgina (Jenny) for 64 years. They were married on Labor Day weekend 1959, and always joked that they had been laboring ever since. After retirement, they traveled extensively around the country. He was a loving servant of God and devoted Christian and attended the Worldwide Church of God. A wonderful husband and loving dad.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Rose Baker; his son, Greg Baker of Harrison, TN; his two grandchildren Olivia Baker of Chattanooga, and Autumn Baker Tift of Ooltewah; one great grandchild Grace Tift; and a daughter in-law, Lisa Baker.

Harold is preceded in death by his sister, Lucielle Baker Ledford; and his brothers, Charles, Carl, Vincent, and Blakely Baker.

Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
