12/08/1945 - 04/11/2024

Mona Lee Kisselburg Rainey, a cherished member of the Kennesaw, GA community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2024, following a brief illness. Born on December 8, 1945, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Morrow) Kisselburg, Mona's journey was marked by love, dedication, and service.

Raised in Murphy, NC, she graduated from Murphy High School in 1964 and pursued her passion for caregiving by earning her nursing degree from Grady Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1967. Her commitment to healing and compassion was evident throughout her illustrious forty-five-year nursing career.

On May 24, 1968, Mona exchanged vows with the love of her life, William Stephen (Steve) Rainey, in Atlanta, GA. Together, they built a beautiful life in Acworth, GA, and were blessed with three children: Samuel Rufus (Rus) Rainey (Lori), William Lloyd (Lee) Rainey (Beth), and Mary Evelyn (Eve) Rainey. Mona's love extended to her three grandchildren: Stephen Robert (Robbie) Rainey, Weslee Bowen Rainey, and Camryn Reese Rainey, whom she adored dearly. Her furry companion, Candace Louise (Candy) Rainey, added immeasurable joy to her life.

Mona's legacy of love and kindness touched many lives. She was a devoted member of the Methodist faith and found solace in her involvement with the Order of the Eastern Star Murphy Chapter #10. Throughout her career, Mona's nurturing spirit shone brightest on the Mother-Baby floor, where she brought comfort and care to countless families. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mona found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cultivated vibrant gardens, shared music through her piano playing, and reveled in the adventures of travel. Above all, Mona cherished moments spent spoiling her grandchildren, leaving them with cherished memories to carry forward.

In addition to her husband, Mona was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Sue Kisselburg Raper and Pearly Raper. While Mona's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours. The first visitation will take place on Thursday, April 18th, from 5-8 PM at Tuscany Italian Restaurant in Woodstock, GA.
