Stephen (Steve) Wesley Rowland
On Thursday, June 13th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family Steve passed away peacefully in Hiawassee Ga at the age of 80. Born in Hayesville, NC to the late Vierce and Dollie (Gibson) Rowland on October 12th, 1943. Steve had a 31-year career with the United States Forest Service. After retirement, he spent most of his time on his front porch bird watching. He enjoyed trout fishing, watching his beloved westerns, being in the mountains and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Freddie Lee Cothren, Ethel Mull and two infant brothers.
Steve leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce (Moss) Rowland. He is survived by his two children, Teresa (Curtis) Stephens, Jeff (Theresa) Rowland, and his grandson Wesley (Kalei) Stephens, two granddaughters Courtney Stephens, and Ashley (Andrew) Pestana and two great grandchildren Isabella and Christopher Stephens. He also leaves behind three sisters Christine Fisher, Ellen Ledford, Mildred (Micheal) Rogers and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearer’s are as follows: Josh Shook, Marvin Mull, Mikey Rogers, Nathan Mull, Rickey Moss, and Tommy Moss.
The family of Steve wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the EMT’s of Hayesville, Union General Hospital and Mountain Home Nursing.
Funeral services will be held at Townson-Rose Funeral Home at 525 Hwy 64 Business Hayesville, NC 28904 on Monday, June 17th, 2024, with Dr. Jackie Sellers officiating. Visitation will start at 10 am with service to follow at 11 am. Interment will follow at Union Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Hayesville, NC.
