Charles “Charlie” Jack Byers, age 61 of Warne, NC went home to his Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his residence.
He was a native of Clay County, NC and the son of Sandy Byers and the late Jack Byers. Charlie was a retired manager with Vulcan Materials. He previously worked as an explosives specialist with Slurry Corporation, and quarry supervisor with Colwell Construction. Charlie was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. His hobbies were car detailing, gardening, wood working, and making jerky and spicy salsa. Charlie was a master griller, avid hunter and a true outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family and grandchild S.J., the absolute delight of his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son Sean Byers, his father Jack Byers, sister, Gayla Lee Scruggs, grandparents Woodrow and Irene Byers, aunts Betty Sue Hooper and Helen Scharringhausen, uncles Fred Byers, Wayne Byers, Monroe Byers, Claude Dee Byers, Roy Lee Byers and Ben Edward Byers.
He is survived by his loving mother, Sandra “Sandy” Joan Byers; one son, C.J. Byers (Maddie) of Blairsville, GA; one daughter Alyssa Grace Byers of Blairsville, GA; one grandson Sean Jesse “S.J.” Byers; and sisters Lisa Doss of Montana; Becky Baker (C.N.) of Morganton, Karen Calhoun (Eric) of Valdese, and Susie Sherlin Curtis (Mike) of Brunswick, GA; and one brother Steven Michael Byers (Phyllis) of Hayesville; uncles Lawrence Byers and Thomas Byers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Warne, NC with the family receiving friends at 12:00 PM, and funeral service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 25, 2025. Rev. Dennis Miles and Rev. Jeff Deaver will officiate.
