Verna Lee Decker Kephart, age 95 of Murphy, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2025.
Verna Lee was born in Cherokee County to the late Wade Mitchell and Bonnie McDonald Decker. She had worked as a seamstress and retired from Levi Strauss & Co. Verna Lee was a Murphy High School graduate. She was a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church where she was active in many church activities including teaching and singing in the choir. Verna Lee enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, cooking and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kephart; her sisters, Linda Jones, Betty Ingram and a brother, Clyde Decker.
She is survived by her sister, Carol Green (Bill); her brother, Don Decker (Donna); her son, Harold Kephart (Darlene); her daughter, Gail Bachteler (Frank); her grandchildren, Ami Achilles (Les), Ashlei Green (Seth), Eric Conley and Zachary Kephart (Brittany); her great grandchildren, Braiden Conley (Alexis), Ella Conley, Tyler Achilles, Ella Greene, Adams Greene, Marle Annabelle and Oliver Kephart; and her special friends, John and Joann Cabe.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Eric Conley, Zachary Kephart, Braiden Conley, Tyler Achilles, Seth Greene, Les Achilles, Adams Green and Isaac Cabe.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Wednesday, 29, 2025 prior to the funeral service.
