Obituary for Doyle Colin Day

Doyle R. Colin Day, age 66 of Andrews, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Doyle was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina to the late Doyle Robert and Fannie Mae Martin Day. He grew up in this area and graduated from Andrews High School in 1976. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry and after retiring about 4.5 years ago, he moved back to the mountains. He was an outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing. Doyle was the life of the party, he really enjoyed being around people and wanted everyone to have a good time. Doyle liked many genres of music, especially bluegrass and country and enjoyed playing his guitar. He was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed working on many types of cars. He was of the Baptist faith, attending Lone Oak Baptist Church in Robbinsville.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Joshua Day; a brother, Jerry Day and two sisters, Barbara Thomas and Mollie Dover.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen Day of Lawrenceville, GA and Matthew Day of Winder, GA; his wife, Kathy Thigpen Day; his sisters, Rheta Etters and husband, Jerry Jordon of Robbinsville and Gladys Gegan of Asheville, NC and three grandchildren, Blake Nash, Alyssa Day and Madison Day.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Burial will be in Moss Cemetery in Marble. Rev. Scott Roper will officiate. Pallbearers will be Robert, Frank, George, Ray, Dale and Ronnie. Blake Nash will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews prior to the funeral service.
