Obituary for AnnaLou Steele Bradley

AnnaLou Steele Bradley, age 92, of Hiawassee, GA passed away peacefully Monday, February 26, 2018 in Union County, GA.

She was a resident of Brasstown Manor for the past four years. Mrs. Bradley was born in Bealeton, VA, daughter of Anna Perry Bryant Steele and Abram Ellis Steele. She received her BS degree in Education in 1965 from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Mrs. Bradley was an elementary school teacher at Floris Elementary (Fairfax County, VA), for all 38 years of her career. The Floris School library was named in honor of Mrs. Bradley at her retirement. She lived in Herndon, VA until retirement to Florida in 1998.

Mrs. Bradley was a loving mother and will leave many fond memories that will be cherished by her family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for both large and small gatherings. She got special pleasure remembering people with flowers and greeting cards. She shared her caring and kindness with all she met.

Mrs. Bradley was an active member of her community and church in Herndon, VA; Ormond Beach, FL; and Hayesville, NC. She was a member of the Halifax Yacht Club and served as scholarship coordinator for the Palmetto Club. She also participated in bridge clubs, book clubs, and community visitation and outreach programs.

Mrs. Bradley was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Benjamin Lewis Bradley, Sr.

She is survived by her son Ben and wife Dyda' of Hayesville; daughters, Bonnie Andrews and husband Andy; Sandra Bray and husband Paul all of Ocean Springs, MS; son, Allen and wife Dennie of Knoxville, TN; brother-in-law, Austin and wife Starling of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren, Brad Bradley, Kimberly Everett, Robert Andrews, Ellie Bray, Sargent Bray, Rebecca Greene, Allison Bradley, and Abram Bradley; eight great grandchildren and numerous close relatives and friends. Judy Gibson, Mrs. Bradley's dear companion and friend, is thanked by the family for her enrichment of Mrs. Bradley's life over the last few years.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Kirk Hatherly will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Andrews, Brad Bradley, Abram Bradley, Logan Everett, Allen Bradley, Andy Andrews and Bill Griffith.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM, Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of AnnaLou Bradley to the Hayesville First United Methodist Church , PO Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904.
