Harry McDonald, born Tuesday, June 3, 1941, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, son of the late Neal and Gertrude Carroll McDonald. Harry married Louise Laney McDonald; they were married for 63 years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Teresia McDonald Davis; and two brothers, Carl McDonald and Jack McDonald.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC. Harry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed working on small engines and racing. He worked at Hitchcock Talc Mine for years and City Service for 20 years. Harry worked at MGM Brakes until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rickey McDonald (Michelle) and Brian McDonald (Sharon); two special grandsons, Blake McDonald and Brett McDonald (Amber); several nieces and nephews. Harry is also survived by his special friend and neighbor, Eddie Arrowood.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Bobby Lovingood, Pastor Harold Stiles and Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Music will be provided by Andrew Chastain and Aud and Becky Brown. Pallbearers will be Mike Kephart, Mark Jason Gerbino, Dusty Lingerfelt, Phillip Davis, Eric Laney, Mark Roberson and Jeff Roberson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Amos, Larry Davis and friends of Mt. Wimpey.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
