Obituary for Virginia Baker

Virginia Baker, age 85 of Shoal Creek / Wehutty community and lifelong resident of Cherokee County passed, away peacefully at Signal Mountain Senior Living Center in Chattanooga, TN on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

One of seven children born to Anna Mae and Clifford Rose, a professional seamstress who worked for Levis Strauss for over 25 years, devoted wife and homemaker. She will be remembered for her love of family, kindness and humbleness. Enjoyed large gatherings, a passion for cooking wonderful meals, especially breakfast with her hand made from scratch biscuits. She was an avid gardener who made plants bloom with beauty. A passion for dressing up and looking her best, known for her beautiful extensive wardrobe.

She was a devoted loving wife to husband Harold Baker for 65 years. After retirement they traveled extensively around the country, many trips out west to California, the Grand Canyon, many other locations. She was a loving servant of God a devoted Christian and attended the Worldwide church of God. A wonderful caring wife, and loving mother.

She is survived by her son, Greg Baker of Harrison, TN; two grandchildren, Olivia Baker of Chattanooga, and Autumn Baker Tift of Ooltewah (Dr. Frank Tift); two great grandchildren, Grace Breeden Tift and Calvin Baker Tift; daughter in-law Lisa Baker; sister, Carolyn Verner; and her brother, Clyde Rose.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna Mae and Clifford Rose; her sister, Willadean Wilcox; and her brothers, Glenn, Willard, and Marvin Rose.

Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
