Mrs. Mary Jo Evans, 89 of Monroe, Georgia formerly of Murphy, North Carolina passed away Monday, January 27, 2025.
Mary Jo, a long-time resident of Murphy NC, was the daughter of the late Carl and Bessie Mae Dockery. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Evans, son Edward ‘Tweeter’ Evans and siblings, Ethel Mae, Robert V and Edward Dockery. She is survived by her grandson Jacob Evans and wife Kelly of Monroe, Georgia and great-grandchildren Tristen, Eli and Claire Evans.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC at 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm with Reverend Aud Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens where Mary Jo will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son. Pallbearers will be Jacob Evans, Keith Zimmerman, Levi Zimmerman, Dexter Hubbard, Matt Cook and Tim Anderson.
Mary Jo will be remembered for her generosity, her love and dedication to her family and her unwavering faith in God. She greatly enjoyed being a member of Ranger Baptist Church in Cherokee County. She was a fun loving, artistic person who worked tirelessly as a homemaker and provided support to all those who loved her. She will be dearly missed.
