Obituary for Mike Wilson

Mike Wilson, age 80, of Hayesville, NC passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

He was born in Anniston, Alabama to the late Robert and Lura Scoggins Wilson. Mike enjoyed making knives, fishing, and growing tomatoes. He loved to grill and especially fry fish. Mike was a faithful member for 21 years at Mission Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Wilson; and two sisters and brother in laws, Jean Jones (Earl) and Jo Maner (Earl).

Mike is survived by his wife of 25 years, Frances Burrell Wilson; sons, Robert Allen Wilson (Kristie) of Elberton, GA and Matthew Tripplett (Lindsey) of Oxford, GA; daughters, Leigh Starrett (Kevin) of Elberton, GA and Lisa Manis (Ellis) of Auburn, GA; six grandchildren, Hannah McAvoy, Mekiah Martin, McKenzie Seymour, Emily Starrett, Jackson Lunsford and Madlynn Tripplett; and five great grandchildren, Elliana, Kenleigh, Charlie, Oakes and baby McAvoy on the way.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Mission Hill Baptist Church in Hayesville. Rev. Mark Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Starrett, Matthew Tripplett, Jackson Lunsford, Trey McAvoy, Josh Seymour and Mekiah Martin.

The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm, Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the Mission Hill Baptist Church.
