Obituary for Billy Wayne Huffines

Billy Wayne Huffines, age 89 of Marble, NC passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, two days before their 67th wedding anniversary.

He was born in Smith County, TN to the late William and Charity McCormick Huffines. Billy retired after 23 years as a Major in the United States Air Force. He worked for the Department of Health Medicaid/TN Care after 21 years of service as the Statewide Director for Long Term Care & Provider Relations. Billy loved University of Tennessee football and watching NASCAR races. He enjoyed working in his flower garden. Billy loved traveling with Nancy to Down East Maine for 15 Septembers; that was the highlight of their years together. Anyone who knew Billy was blessed with his presence. He was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Huffines; and his father and mother-in-law, Paschal "Pat" and Belle Green of Oak Ridge, TN and Marble, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy G. Huffines; one brother, Jerry Greene (Phyllis); and four nephews and two nieces.

A celebration of life service will be held in April at the Vengeance Creek Memorial Gardens in Marble, NC with military graveside rites.
