Jewel Payne, age 83, of Andrews, NC passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025.
He was born in Andrews, NC to the late Eugene and Bethel Marie Watkins Payne. Jewel worked as a mechanic for Coble Dairy and Brown's Feed. He enjoyed squirrell hunting, fishing and water skiing. Jewel kept an immaculate vegetable garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jewel was a member of Valley River Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hughes Payne.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Stiles (Jeff) of Marble, Tammy Luther (Jerry) of Andrews, and Pam Rose (Keith); two brothers, Doil Payne (Shirley) and Bill Payne both of Andrews; two sisters, Patsy Hyde (Larry) and Peggy Adams (Steve) both of Andrews; six grandchildren, Max Davis, Elizabeth Davis (Justin), Bethany Luther, Kayla Roberts, Katlyn Carter (Brian) and Sarah Brown (Nick); and nine great grandchildren, Nichole, Abigail, Macie, Chelsea, Kinzley, Madeleine, Davis, Jameson and Luke.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Valley River Baptist Church. Rev. Roy Phillips will officiate. David Lovingood will provide music. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The pallbearers will be Max Davis, Steve Hyde, Jeff Payne, Greg Hughes, Jason Hughes and Terry Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Payne, Larry Hyde and Steve Adams.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm, Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Valley River Baptist Church.
