Obituary for Bonita Rose Duckworth

Bonita Rose Duckworth, age 88 of Marietta, GA passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024.

She was born in the Unaka Community to the late Frank and Vicie Chambers Rose. Growing up as a "TVA kid" her family moved around a lot, and she made friends wherever she went. She graduated from Hayesville High School and later married the love of her life, Ed Duckworth. They were married for over 60 years. Bonita, aka "MeMe" loved spending time with the grandkids, cooking, and hosting get togethers for the gang. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She and Ed enjoyed traveling and especially the "snowbird routine" with her brothers and sisters. They were a very close-knit family and enjoyed Florida for several years. Bonita was a member of County Line Church and was very involved in the children's ministry. She taught Sunday School and enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School. Her great sense of humor and loving kindness will forever be felt by her family, friends and all those who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond "Ed" Duckworth, a brother Bobby Rose and sister-in-law Penny Rose and a brother-in-law J.W. "Red" Workman.

She is survived by her son David E. Duckworth and wife Kristi of Kennesaw, GA; one daughter, Pamela Maner and husband Marlon of Powder Springs, GA; one brother, Frank Rose, Jr. and wife Opal of Hayesville, NC; one sister, Donna Rose Workman of Hayesville, NC; 4 grandchildren, Josh Maner and wife Jennifer, Jennifer Cheek and husband Michael, Matthew Duckworth and wife Caroline and Allie Heineman and husband Josh, and a special "adopted" grandaughter, Melody Maner who she claimed as one of her own, three great-grandchildren, Griffin Cheek and Morgan and Garrett Maner. Also surviving are many special cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. The Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Josh Maner, Matt Duckworth, Josh Heineman, Michael Cheek, Griffin Cheek and Garrett Maner.

The family will receive friends from 1pm - 2pm prior to the service hour at Townson Rose Chapel of Hayesville NC.
