Ruby May (LaCroix) Barber, age 88, entered into glory Sunday, August 4, 2024. She leaves her sons, Terry (Debbi) Barber of Alpharetta, GA; Dennis (Patricia) Barber of Hayesville, NC; her daughters, Teresa (Doug) Berry of Hernando, MS; Pamela (John) Seymour of Oakland, TN; and Sharon Kyser of Hayesville, NC; her Brother, Clarence LaCroix of Saltillo, MS; twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and many friends, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Barber; son, Ken Barber; her father, William Oakley LaCroix; her mother, Ida Jane LaCroix; her brothers, Alton, Robert, Charles, Howard, Fred, and Richard LaCroix; and her sisters, Lillian (LaCroix) Cargill and Mary (LaCroix) Valasquez.
Born and raised in Germantown, TN, most recently she was a resident of the Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, NC. Ruby spent many years in Louisiana before returning to the Memphis, TN area. Ruby was an incredibly generous, loving woman with many talents, most notably painting. She saw the beauty in her surroundings and enjoyed capturing the colors and images on film and canvas. Ruby was a strong witness to the healing love of Christ, serving him all her days.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Monday, August 12, 2024 at New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Horn Lake, MS, where she was a member and where her beloved husband, Jim, had served as pastor for many years. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, TN.
The family will receive friends from 10 am to 10:45 am, Monday, August 12, 2024 at New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
