Mildred Ruth Griggs Rowland, age 78 of Topton, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Mildred was born in Cherokee County to the late Wilburn and Cordie Newton Griggs. She retired from Nantahala Elementary School where she taught kindergarten and first grade. Mildred enjoyed shopping and cooking. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Mildred was a member of Marble Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Giles Griggs.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Rowland; a son, Jeff Rowland (Lori); her grandchildren, Brittany Curtis (Heath) and Ashlyn Mckeon (Brice); and her great grandchildren, Deacon Curtis, Violet Curtis and Rowan McKeon.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Marble Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Toby Roehm and Rev. Randall Moss. Burial will be in Moss Cemetery in Marble. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rowland, Heath Curtis, Brice McKeon, Chris Matheson, Andy Helton and Tom Beasley.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 prior to the funeral service.
