Obituary for Vaughn Leroy Day Sr.

Vaughn Leroy Day, Sr., age 77 of Murphy, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

Vaughn was born in Brevard County, Florida to the late Albert Lee and Evelyn Bramblett Day. He was retired after 35 years from law enforcement with St. Lucie County, Florda and 15 years at Home Depot. After moving to Murphy, he worked 3 years as manager of Rib Country. He loved going to church and wearing Florida Gator apparel. Vaughn also enjoyed eating out at Mike's Seafood on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and The Sawmill Restaurant for breakfast on Saturdays. He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Murphy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Doctor Bryant Day.

He is survived by his wife, Libby Day; his son, Vaughn Day, Jr; his brother, Lamar Day (Leala); his sister, Mary Simon (Tony); and his grandchildren, Vaughn "Trey" Day III and Kassandra "Kassie" Elizabeth Day.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Covenant Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Achison, Bud Watson, Dave Brooks, Steven Holland, Ronnie Holloway and Jonathan Cochran.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Covenant Baptist Church the evening prior to the funeral service.
