Lorene Horton Cook, age 94 of Brasstown, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021.
Lorene was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Jessie and Dulcie Allen Horton. She was a machine operator at Levi’s for over 10 years. She was also a homemaker and had resided off and on for 20 years in Oregon. Lorene was a member of Old Fashioned Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Homer Cook; son, Franklin Steve Cook; brother, Carl Horton; and sisters, Ruby Coker and Shirley Stewart.
She is survived by her daughters, Glenda Clayton and husband Ronald, and JoAnn Henderson; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 pm, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Hoyt Brown and Rev. Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Old Fashioned Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Teddy Cook, A.J. Cook, Terry Stewart, Freddie Cook, Ray Cook and Everett Cook.
The family will receive friends from 3 pm – 4 pm, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to the Old Fashioned Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 732 Floyd Stalcup Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
