Cecilia Holloway Bateman, age 88 of Andrews, NC passed away Friday, March 15, 2024.
She was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Jody and Glestie Nelson Holloway. Cecilia worked for Owenby's and Lee's. She loved cooking, helping people and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Cecilia enjoyed basketball, especially the Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves baseball.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lee Bateman; one son, Terry Bateman; one grandson, Colton; one brother, Lynn Holloway; and one sister, Inez Otto.
She is survived by two sons, Jody Bateman and Travis Bateman (Mellisa); one daughter, Cheryl Shook; daughter-in-law, Debbie Bateman; three sisters, Annie Patterson, Hildred McMahan and Helen Trammell; 12 grandchildren, Johnathan, Chloe, Blaken, Jake, Gage, Taylor, Crystal, Beverly, Kimberly, Debbie Jo, Trevor and Terrance; 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Red Marble Baptist Church in Andrews. Rev. S.J. Waters will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gage Bateman, Blaken Bateman, Jake Crowe, Eddie West, Eric West and Jamie Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Makhi Smith, Elijah Pickney, Jonathan Bateman, Trevor Shook, Louis Smith and Terrance Shook.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm, Sunday, March 24, 2024 at the Red Marble Baptist Church in Andrews.
