Jean Bush Hamby, age 91 of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025.
She was born in Bonifay, FL to the late Edger Tafton and Essie Lorene Finuff Bush. Jean was a homemaker. She loved to cook for her family and her friends in the community. Jean was continually active with the Hiwassee Dam Community Center. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jean was a member of The Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Miller and Lorene Coomer.
She is survived by her children, Steve Hamby, Martin Hamby (Teresa), and Jan Dockery (Tim) all of Murphy, NC; six granddaughters, Renee, Jennifer, Nanette, Amy, Sarah and Stephanie; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, December 5, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Calvin Murphy will officiate. The Golden Family will provide music. Burial will be in Reid's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 2 pm, Friday, December 5, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
