Obituary for Sherman Keith Postell

Sherman Keith Postell, age 85 of Andrews, NC passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Sherman Joseph and Ila Mae Holloway Postell. Sherman was a US Marine veteran. He retired from Snap-On Tools. Sherman was an outdoors person. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Sherman loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Red Marble Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Edwards and Vickie Wishon.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Cross Postell; one son, Brian Postell (Crystal) of Johnson City, TN; one daugther, Tracy Carter (Ray) of Andrews, NC; two grandchildren, Caylyn Burnette and Caleb Stiles; and four great grandchildren, Anzleigh Stiles, James Burnette, Paison Stiles and Addilynn Stiles.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2025 at Red Marble Baptist Church. Rev. Mickey Stewart and Rev. Steve West will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites being conducted by the American Legion Post #96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville and the Marine Corp League, Marble. Pallbearers will be Ray Carter, Dillon Burnette, Caleb Stiles, Joe Benham, George Postell and Dalton Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Verdon Owenby and Pearly Owenby.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 2 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2025 at Red Marble Baptist Church.
