Obituary for John "Jack" Robert

John Bradford (Jack) Robert passed away yesterday Thursday, February 6, 2026 in Murphy after a lengthy battle with Glomerulonephritis. He was 88 years old.

John was the son of John Milton and Catherine Paulding Willard Robert, grandson of William Bradford and Ellen Paulding Willard and grandson of Raymond A. and Grace Lawrence Newburg Robert. He was born in Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and grew up in Bayside, NY. After attending Columbia University he joined the Army in 1959, serving 5 years in Germany, France, Alabama and Texas. After discharge, he worked for the Department of the Army at Homestead Air Force Base in South Florida and then spent several years working for Raytheon as a Senior Advisor in Surface to Air Missile Defense to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After returning to the U.S. in 1970 he worked for Motorola in Fort Lauderdale, FL as a Supply Chain Manager. He was also a self-employed Arbitrator specializing in Automobile Lemon Law disputes. He retired to Murphy with his wife in 1993.

Throughout his life, John donated over 300 pints of blood to the American Red Cross.

John Bradford Robert is survived by his wife Hope (Pastor) Robert in Murphy, NC, daughter Meredith Hope Robert (of Richmond, CA), sons Adrian Bradford Robert and wife Päivi Vänskä (of Helsinki, Finland), and Christopher LeBaron Robert and wife Frances Tain (of Henniker, NH). He was preceded in death by brother Raymond Willard Robert (of Mineola, NY), sister Mary Dormer Jordan Douglas (of Huntington, NY), sister Virginia Barbara Jordan Foertsch (of Huntington, NY), and brother Douglas LeBaron Jordan (of Pleasanton, CA).
