David William McClure, 24, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away on January 21, 2026. Born on June 13, 2001, David lived every single day as though it were his last—full of energy, joy, and an infectious zest for life that touched everyone around him. He was the very embodiment of living happily and freely, approaching each moment with laughter, and an unwavering sense of adventure.
David found his greatest joys in the simple and exhilarating things: strumming his guitar, whether alone or sharing music with friends; chasing the thrill of the hunt in the woods, just as his beloved late papaw Bruce Larry Morrow did; sinking shots on the basketball court with his signature competitive grin; tearing up dirt tracks on his dirtbike; and spending countless hours immersed in the beauty of the outdoors. These passions defined him—not as hobbies, but as expressions of a spirit that refused to be contained.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Jennifer Ann Allen; his father, David Lee McClure; his brother, Gabriel Lee McClure; and his grandparents, Angie and Kenneth Ring. David’s absence leaves an irreplaceable void in their lives and in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of living fully, loving deeply, and embracing every day with enthusiasm will continue to inspire those he left behind.
A celebration of David’s remarkable life will be held at a later date, details to be shared by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David’s memory to help with the unexpected funeral expenses. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/02e0c6a69.
"David lived brightly and left far too soon, but his light will never fade. Rest easy, David—you lived it right."
