With hearts anchored in faith, we announce the passing of Fred Benjamin West, who was peacefully called home on December 17, 2025 at the age of 90.
Fred was born on April 18, 1935 and lived a life marked by love, service and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Fred cherished his family and dedicated many years compassionately serving families during their most difficult moments, offering comfort, dignity and care as a funeral assistant for Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
A believer in God's promises, Fred walked faithfully with the Lord and was a dedicated choir director, deacon and member of Valley River Baptist Church, Valleytown Baptist Church, and Andrews First Baptist Church.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Glade and Minnie Shuler West; wife, Florence Pendergrass West; one son, Tommy Dean West; daughter, Elizabeth Dianne West; and one sister, Winnie Lee Dozier.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Katherine West Fetrow; four grandchildren, Courtney Diane Lee, Jonathan Mark Ferguson, Haven Stiles and Matthew Goode; 12 great grandchildren, and caregiver, Leslie Reece.
Though we mourn we do not grieve without hope, for scripture reminds us that "to be present with the Lord" 2 Corinthian 5:8.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Andrews First Baptist Church. Rev. Calvin Bobo will officiate. Music will be provided by Dane and Faye Parker. Burial will be in the Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Haven Stiles, Dylan Aldridge, Marquis Johnson, Dane Parker, Jim Fetrow and Bradley Dobbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Snipe Winfrey, Wayne Dobbs, Jonathan Ferguson and Matthew Goode.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Andrews First Baptist Church.
