Obituary for Lee Stephen Truett

04/03/1954 - 12/21/2025

Lee Stephen Truett, 71, of Andrews passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville with his wife of 50 years, Marie by his side. He was born in Murphy on April 3, 1954 to Robert and Iva Jean Truett.

One of the last things Lee said was "There are no strangers. You get to know everyone." That's how he lived, engaging with everyone he met usually leaving them with laughter.

Lee (Steve) started his working career in the A & P grocery store training as a meat cutter, then worked at the MJ Jordan market until Ingles opened in Andrews. He worked many years for Ingles and was the meat market manager in Robbinsville. He worked several jobs after leaving Ingles including 12 years as maintenance for United Community Bank, and five years as a welder/pipefitter at Watts Barr Nuclear Plant. Lee truly was a jack of all trades always ready to jump in and accomplish anything including electrical, cabinet making, and carpentry. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman, and since retirement he had become a talented woodworker making beautiful pieces on his Lathe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Iva Jean Truett. Surviving Lee is his loving wife of 50 years, Marie; a brother, Robert Junior Truett (Connie); a sister, Diane Love (Tommy); and a multitude of nieces and nephews who all were very dear to him.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Rex Allen Sellers and Rev. Patrick O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Anderson, Cale Anderson, Travis Anderson, Sammy Shaffer, Jason Smith, and Jeff Payne.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at the Townson-Rose Andrews Chapel prior to the services.
