Obituary for Hubert Arthur Morgan

Hubert Arthur Morgan, 82, passed away peacefully in his home on January 12, 2026 with his family.

Hubert was born June 23, 1943 at his home place in Nantahala. He married the love of his life, Linda Sue Passmore on April 17, 1964. Hubert worked several different jobs but was most remembered for furniture building and upholstery work. If you knew Hubert, you knew he had a passion for the Lord, his family, and music. He enjoyed westerns, tending to his garden, and sharing the gospel with anyone who would listen. He worshiped the Lord using his musical talents of playing the guitar and singing in several gospel groups throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Arthur and Dorothea Morgan; siblings, Ina Bell Mashburn, Dillard Morgan, and Harold Morgan; wife, Linda Morgan; and son, Matthew Morgan.

Hubert is survived by his sister, Pauline Mashburn; daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Holden and daughter-in-law, Teresa (late Matthew) Morgan; grandchildren Wade Morgan, Brandon (Laura) Morgan, Wesley (Amanda) Holden, Mikel (Bonnie) Morgan, and Alyssa (Anthony) Futrell; and his great grandchildren, Case, Elijah, Meredith, Everett, Brooks, Haddie, Evelyn, Easton, and two more on the way.

Hubert, best known as Daddy and Papaw, will be especially remembered for his faith in God, love for his family, and his witty sense of humor. He lived out his faith and his service to the Lord will impact generations to come.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 17th, 2026 from 12 pm-2 pm at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews, NC. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm, officiated by Pastor Tanner McGregor. Pallbearers will be Wade Morgan, Brandon Morgan, Wesley Holden, Mikel Morgan, Jeff Holden, and Tanner McGregor. Isaac Freeman, Kevin Baldwin, and Anthony Futrell will serve as honorary pallbearers. He will be laid to rest at Union Hill Cemetery, procession to follow the funeral services.

Flowers can be received at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews, NC by the evening of June 16, 2026.
