Obituary for Col. Thomas Herbert Trombley

Colonel Thomas Herbert Trombley, age 78 of Murphy, NC passed away Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.

He was born in Waterbury, CT to the late James William and Jean Dyer Trombley and moved to the Murphy area in 2006 from Ft. Myers, FL. Colonel Trombley lived life to the fullest. He loved to play golf, enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, scuba diving, snow skiing and traveling. Along with his hobbies, he also loved spending time with his family. Colonel Trombley retired as a helicopter pilot from the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Trombley; a sister, Carol Brest; and a grandson, Thomas Karafa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Trombley; four daughters, Tracie Trombley Karafa of Hampton, VA, Kathleen Smith of Smithfield, VA, Lisa Trombley Strickland of Yorktown, VA and Elizabeth Faulkner of Hampton, VA; one step-son, James Chapman; 9 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Colonel Trombley will be buried with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
