Gilbert "Chip" Lee Harper, age 57, of Hayesville, NC passed away Sunday, July 02, 2017 at his residence.
Gilbert was the son of Weldon Harper and Patsy Parker Hickman. He was a member of Oak Forest Methodist Church, involved with the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, a Cub Master for 5 years, and also involved with the American Legion. Gilbert loved his family and grandchildren and also loved to help people and make them smile.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara Harper; two daughters, Christine Love and husband Shane of Hayesville, NC and Brandy Bender and husband Paul Bender of Youngsville, NC; four grandchildren, Nicholas Love, Jaeden Love, Benjamin Love, and Lillian Love; brother, Lous Hickman; and sisters, Patty Hickman, Tammy Adams, Terri Harper, and Lovetta Harper.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM, Friday July 7, 2017 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church. Military honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812 at 4 PM.
