Obituary for Gerald Clinton Parker

Gerald Clinton Parker, age 97 of Marble, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Gerald was born in Cherokee County to Fred and Mary Garren Parker. He worked in the construction field as a carpenter. Gerald was a devoted husband of 55 years, loved his family and enjoyed family get togethers. He loved doing anything outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Cash. Gerald was a dedicated Andrews Wildcat fan, loved the Atlanta Braves and was a great baseball player when every town had a team of their own. He was also a World War II Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Roberts; his brothers, Harold Parker and Charles Parker; a sister, Dorothy Kerns and a great grandson, Korbin Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Loyce Crowe Parker; his sons, Dane Parker (Faye), Lynn Parker (Norma) and Rickey Smith; his daughters, Sonya Wright and Paula Nelson (Terry); his grandchildren, Clint Parker, Daphne Alt (Roddy), Patti Bryan (Dallas), Jamie Smith (Sarah), Sheena Smith, Whitney Nicholson (Dustin), Carleigh Spinn (Mike), Noah Wright (Hannah) and Ravin Wright (Colton); his great grandchildren, Corbin Alt, Emolyn Alt, Nora Alt, Katelynn Dove, Tyler Bryan, Kaleb Smith, Klay Smith, Kate Smith, Neiko Willy, Zoey Brady, Zsaa Brady, Titus Nicholson, Owen Nicholson, Molly Spinn, Phillip Spinn, Julian Spinn and Lakelyn Wright; and his great great grandchildren, Brynlee Dove and Walker Dove.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Roy Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Valley River Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville and the Marine Corp League, Marble. Pallbearers will be Clint Parker, Jamie Smith, Noah Wright, Mike Spinn, Dustin Nicholson and Colton Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be Oran Mossteller, Paul Mossteller, Howard Parker, Neiko Willy, Julian Spinn and the late John Beavers.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews prior to the funeral service.
