Roy Henry Free, age 74 of Warne, NC passed away Saturday December 17, 2016 at Union General Hospital.
He was the son of Willie and Frances Brock Free. Roy was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Roy loved volunteering at Chatuge Regional Hospital, loved watching the Braves play baseball, NASCAR Racing. He enjoyed his family, grandkids and great-grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Butch Free and sister, Gail Stowe.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Emma Free; sons, Roy Free and wife Kay of Shooting Creek; daughters, Dana Free and Frances Horton and husband Steve of Warne; sisters, Venice Childers and husband Denny of Arizona, Ruth Anne Pope and husband Billy of Gastonia and Ruby Dowdle of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Ashely Moyer and husband Trey of Hayesville, Alicia Shook and husband Terence of Brasstown and Brandon Free of Hayesville and great grandchildren, Connor, Lily, Carson, Grayson and Braxton.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM, Tuesday December 20, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Pastor Richard Roberson and Rev. David Feathers will officiate. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Free, Steve Horton, Trey Moyer, Terence Shook, Brandon Free and Wallace Chastain. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford Chastain and Leon Chastain.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM, Tuesday December 20, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
