Don Hogsed, age 76 of Hayesville, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.
Don was a native of Cherokee County, NC. He was a son of the late P.C. and Mary Williamson Hogsed. He was an U.S. Army veteran and a member of Tomotla Baptist Church. Don enjoyed ginseng hunting, gold panning and basket weaving.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nell Hogsed and brothers, R.V., Leonard, Charles and Verner Hogsed.
Surviving are his daughter, Angie Gardner and husband John of Clyde, NC; son, Mike Hogsed and wife Dawn of Murphy, NC; grandchildren, Garrin Hogsed, Tyler Gardner, Jordan Hogsed and Elizabeth King; great grandchildren, Ralston, Hadley, Reagan and Riley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Steve West will officiate. Burial will be in the Grape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Garrin Hogsed, Tyler Gardner, Brian King, Jim Palmer, Wayne Wells and Roy Hogsed. Honorary pallbearer will be Mitch Arrowood.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gideon's International, PO Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
